I am a teacher, healer, artist, and dreamer. From a very early age I have loved moving whether riding a bike, climbing up my uncle's legs to flip over backwards, twirling around the front yard, or crawling around on the floor with my childhood pet. In college I studied Dance and spent more than twenty years working as a teacher, performer, and choreographer. It was during my dance training that I came to know Yoga. Initially I saw Yoga as a way to balance the rigorous demands of my dancing. Later I saw it as a refuge from the realities of a hectic life as a teacher and artist. Now I view it as direct participation in reality, a moment to moment reunion with breath, life, movement, and my true nature. Throughout my studies with various teachers I have maintained a meaningful connection to the Krishnamacharya lineage and my teachings focus on functional sequencing of yoga postures combined with meditation and pranayama. Therapeutic applications of Yoga, Yin Yoga, and Restorative Yoga are my favorite tools to work with. As a teacher I prefer to work one on one with students as Yoga was originally intended to be shared. I work with students to help them discover a meaningful, useful practice that they can sustain on their own to experience maximum benefits. My approach is gentle, heart-centered, and sincere.
While studying Dance in Chicago in the 1990s I worked at a metaphysical crystal shop and was introduced to many healing modalities and somatic practices including Reiki. I received my first and second attunements and trainings there and have been working with Reiki energy for self-healing, treating others, and distance healing for more than twenty years. In 2015 I graduated from East West College of Healing Arts in Portland, Oregon and became a Licensed Massage Therapist as well. In 2017 I received my Reiki Master attunement and am now training others in this beautiful tradition.
In 2014 I became aware of a huge shift slowly taking place in my life, priorities, values, and circumstances. After working with a fantastic Life Coach I began to map out a life that I found to be both hugely inspiring and also more in alignment with my values. In 2016 I took a grand leap of faith and sold my home, resigned from my teaching position, sold and donated nearly all of my worldly possessions and began to travel full time. I have indulged my wanderlust, volunteered, taught, studied and eventually trained to become a certified Life Coach myself so that I could offer clients a chance to craft their own dream worth living into, to tap into their own potential. I continue to work with clients, to travel, to teach workshops and lead Reiki trainings all while pursuing my next dream; to rebuild a farmhouse in Portugal and open my own center for healing and transformative studies.
